After many years (six, if I recall correctly) Warwick has decided to retire as organiser of his Arthouse Movie Group. We thank him for his initiative in starting this group in the first place as an offshoot of Going Places With Gareth, and his diligence in tirelessly running it over the years. His efforts have provided a great deal of enjoyment for a lot of single people.

A replacement organiser is being sought and there are some irons in the fire. At this stage the program will continue as usual each Tuesday fortnight. If you are new to our network and have an interest in Arthouse Movies, go here for more details.

Due to work commitments John has found it necessary to change a couple of dates for the Metro Walking Group. The walk planned for 26th August has been moved to the 9th September and the walk planned for the 9th September has been moved to 26th September. John continues to enjoy a great deal of success with this group. If you are keen on walking, give him a call. More information here

Unfortunately Helen's New year's Eve party has had to be cancelled. This is due to two reasons. Firstly Gareth won't be available to assist due to work commitments. Secondly, Helen is preparing to dash off to Queensland to visit her new grand-daughter, so she has other things on her mind. Helen has been a solid provider of great shows over the years, so she is entitled to have a New Year's Eve off.

The Metro Walking Group will now meet once per fortnight instead of once per week. Organiser John has constructed an interesting program of walks to suit all classes of walkers. You can view his program on our full events program page or go to John's dedicated page.

The program for the Adelaide Hills Singles Solo Group has been added to our ..Full Events Program.., with a page dedicated to them. Full details will be available shortly. You can view information ... here ... They cater mainly for people living in the Adelaide Hills but others may attend.

The Clovercrest Hotel, Montague Road, Modbury has long been a popular nightspot for dancing on Saturday nights. They have recently dispensed with the hard core Rock n Roll line-up but are continuing live music, some of which will be of enormous interest to us.

Their current band list for April features on 01/04 "Heartbeat" (Bob & Mal from Good Company), 15/04 "Boris Loves To Boogie" and on 29/04, "A Cut Above". Meals there are reputed to be good quality and not overly expensive. Let's all support our favourite bands and give them some support. The hotel has an extremely good dance floor.

Some of our members attend a small book club which is looking to grow with new members. They meet once a month with next dates to be decided each meeting. You can find their listing under "Regular Events", but the wording is as follows:-

The idea of a trip on the steamranger steam train has been well received with bookings already flowing in. It was originally planned to be on 26th June, however that date will be inconvenient because of another function, so it has been firmly decided to hold this event on July 16th. The train runs only on the third Sunday of each month.

Rock n Roll Lessons With Gareth will extend to Wednesday nights at the West Croydon/Kilkenny RSL Hall, Rosetta Street, West Croydon from 7 PM until 10 PM, commencing next Wed. 8th March. This will initially be experimental to see how we work in with eight-ball associations who also use the hall on Wednesday nights. The dance floor is big, fast and fabulous. The cost will be $5. There is plenty of parking around the area.

Sessions are not expected to grow as large as those at the huge and classy Veneto Function Centre, Toogood Avenue, Beverley where our Tuesday nights will continue. An attendance drive is aimed at getting numbers there up to around 100 each week. Social dancers or socialisers only are welcome but the $5 entry charge still applies.

If possible, please advise me if you think you might be attending on Wednesday night to give me some idea of where things stand.

Some time ago I asked people to forward stories to me relating their dating experiences for possible inclusion in a web project. That project was shelved but is now up and running. You can find it at the dating stories index page.

People are welcome to submit stores for inclusion. They may be edited for punctuation, readabilty and to remove any references that could publicly identify a particular person.

Variety is the spice of life and the life-blood of a singles network. The wide range of different events on our program is one of the main reasons for our continued success over the years.

Among functions planned for this year are a trip from Mt Barker to Victor Harbour on the historic Steamranger and a day trip sailing St Vincent Gulf aboard the tall ship Falie. If you are interested in these functions please let Gareth know. Details will be available soon.
