In the wake of the smoking ban in pubs and pokie dens, bands at hotels frequented by rock & roll dancers are going down like skittles. A sharp fall in pokie revenue has resulted in a profit drop, driving home a hard reality of the world we live in. Dancers don't spend nearly as much on booze as do younger cocktail-shooters. Hence, the bands that attract them are out. It hurts to have the door slammed in your face, especially when you're labeled a profit liability. But it helps to remember that rock & roll was profit driven from the outset. Simply put, dollar hunger spawned rock & roll. Dollar hunger will kill it off.
