Metro Walking Group

This group is a re-vamp of the North Adelaide Walking Group. It's organiser is now John Ward.

Meeting times vary, generally around 10 AM to 11 AM but sometimes earlier. Walks are usually followed by a lunch at the starting point.

Generally, you can just attend for either the walk or the lunch. For enquiries phone John on 82687734 or 0419835567. alternatively, e-mail drawy@bigpond.net.au . Be sure to come equipped with walking shoes and drinks, etc.

The walks are not difficult and can be leisurely or you can walk quickly and beat the others back for a drink.

The Walking Group have had a lengthy and rather chequered history. They seem to have commenced around ten years ago as an off-shoot of the Coffee Groope which was in rapid expansion mode at the time.

For years the walks have started from the car-park at the rear of the Quantum Bookshop, 111 Melbourne Street meeting at 11 AM and were previously known as the Quantum Walking Group. Mary Ellis, former coordinator of Coffee Groope ran them for quite a while. After her departure, Rod of "Rod's Rockets" took over as the contact and kept the walks going well.

In recent times the group had languished but Denis's enthusiasm breathed new life into the walks and attendance has shot rapidly upwards. We thank him for his efforts over a 12 month period.
